Scheduled to be demolished this autumn the Gateshead Trinity Centre Car Park is both a cinematic icon and a brutalist blot on the landscape. It was imortalised in the uncompromising gangster classic Get Carter.
Built predominantly from concrete in the late 60s the car park featured a revolutionary observation deck in the form of a restaurant space raised above the seven storeys of the car park. Sadly it was never used and the only glimpse most people have had of the space is in the form the memorable scene in Get Carter, where Jack Carter meets Cliff Brumby.
