Here we go with a second Castle Market themed piece (hey it’s an inspiring place), only this time our attention is turned to it’s exterior.
Nestled at the confluence of the River Don and River Sheaf, the towering central structure with it’s host of access bridges and street level shop units was built in the early 60s, on top of the already established meat and fish market. The fore-mentioned meat market was suitably an early work environment for a teenage Jarvis Cocker (I said it was inspiring). On an even more historical note, the market derives its name from the fact that it is built on the remains of Sheffield Castle.
